Disrupt Your Rhythm

Welcome to Disrupt Your Narrative

To disrupt your narrative means to challenge or interrupt the established story or framework that you have created about yourself, your life, or a particular situation. It involves questioning and reevaluating the assumptions, beliefs, and patters that shape your understanding of yourself and the world around you.

Each Wednesday at 8am EST, I release a newsletter outlining one of the most impactful ways you can disrupt your narrative and begin taking control of your life.

What Exactly is Your ‘Rhythm’?

Your rhythm is the delicate dance of your existence. How you manage and react to the flows and ebbs of life, how you roll with the punches and continue onward.

Not to be bound by time or circumstance, our rhythm is ever-evolving, never fleeting. I would consider rhythm tantamount to pace, equally important but very different. Pace sets the pulse of motion, dictating the speed of progress, while rhythm weaves the threads of pattern and repetition, infusing depth and harmony into life.

I’ll take a moment to be a bit more objective: Its the unique combination of desires, challenges, and choices that shape our individual journey through life, guiding our actions and experiences through patterns.

How Can we Disrupt our Rhythm?

I’m only going to discuss tried methods, those which I used to successfully disrupt my rhythm.

  1. Artistic Expression: When I found myself growing stagnant and uncreative, I reverted back to my first love, poetry. I love writing poetry and being creative in a way that I am never able in the corporate world. It’s a glitch in the day-to-day that can reset me and bring me joy. Try painting, writing, music, or dance.

  2. Solitude, Solitude, Solitude: Those who know me best know I can be a bit reticent, a recluse if you will. I can easily get tremendously annoyed by people, the things they do, and the noises they make. Taking time to disconnect from the noise of everyday life can disrupt rhythm and allow you to connect with your inner self. For me this time of year, that is usually a walk to Lake Michigan (sometimes with a beer) and a solo swim with a beautiful view of downtown Chicago.

  3.  Volunteering & Social Impact: I often find myself with a self-centric focus of my rhythm. This is natural of course, but dedicating time can help disrupt your narrative and center it around empathy and altruism. For me, that’s volunteering time to be a mentor through various organizations and help professional coach for the greater good.

Those are the three that I practice habitually to get out of my rhythm and work to disrupt my narrative. I recommend taking one and trying it at least once a week for a month. See how it feels and if you can feel a shift in your overall narrative - like maybe it’s getting back into your control.

Why Disrupting Pace Will Help You Disrupt Your Narrative

Disrupting your rhythm fuels the power to challenge limiting beliefs, spark creativity, and forge new narratives. Embrace these disruptions and let your rhythm of transformation orchestrate the symphony of your evolving narrative.

Let your personal rhythm resound, it’s a music that only you can compose, a melody that only you can dance to, a soft breeze that only you can feel. Embrace its cadence, cherish its uniqueness, and lean into what makes it yours.

To disrupting,
