Disrupt Your Pace
Welcome to Disrupt Your Narrative
To disrupt your narrative means to challenge or interrupt the established story or framework that you have created about yourself, your life, or a particular situation. It involves questioning and reevaluating the assumptions, beliefs, and patters that shape your understanding of yourself and the world around you.
Each Wednesday at 8am EST, I release a newsletter outlining one of the most impactful ways you can disrupt your narrative and begin taking control of your life.
What Exactly is Your ‘Pace’?
In a way, your pace is your power. You can choose to get out of bed at whatever hour you’d like and work as hard as you’d see fit. Your pace will likely depend on your goals and aspirations. It takes some fine-tuning and trial & error, but once you figure out what your goals are, you should adapt your pace to mirror your goals. In fewer words, your pace should be correlated your goals.
But, it’s when our pace and our goals or aspirations just aren’t quite lining up that we might need to disrupt that pace we’ve grown complacent with.
How Can we Disrupt our Pace?
Altering your pace means altering the speed, rhythm, or tempo of your narrative. That can be incredibly hard to do, but yield huge benefits. Here are the best ways to disrupt your pace:
Break your routine → Stray away from predicable patterns. It is nearly impossible to alter your pace if you are accepting the comfort of familiar patters or routines.
Embrace spontaneity → My favorite - Allow room for unplanned moments and say “yes” to unexpected opportunities. If you say no, the outcome is a guarantee, nothing will happen. If you say yes, you have no idea where it will lead.
Practice mindfulness → Slow down, be present, and gain fresh perspectives through mindfulness techniques.
Seek diverse perspectives → Engage with people from different cultures, backgrounds, and expertise. If you operate at a given pace, it’s very likely you’ve associated with people operating at a similar pace, maybe consciously, maybe subconsciously.
Change your environment → Travel, rearrange spaces, and expose yourself to new setting for inspiration. It’s not easy to change your pace from bed.
Reflect & Evaluate → Regularly asses your life, goals, and values to create a fulfilling and balanced rhythm. After all, your goals and pace need to work in concert.
Try embracing some of these steps. You can gracefully disrupt your pace and open up new paths for personal & professional development.
Why Disrupting Pace Will Help You Disrupt Your Narrative
In the symphony of life, altering the pace becomes a crucial tool that liberates you from the confines of a stagnant narrative. Break your routine and embrace change - you will unleash the power of personal growth.
Slowing down grants you the ever-overlooked gift of introspection, while speeding up ignites your drive to push beyond limitations.
I urge you to embrace the dance between the moments of pause and the effervescent crescendos. In doing so, you disrupt the pace that has been measured out for you and compose a life of adventure, transformation, and joy, whatever that looks like for you.
Hopefully you can start to consider some of these disruptions in pace. They’ve helped me break outside the square and begin to dominate my space, and I’m confident they will help you too.
To disrupting,
